Fire Seals:
- Fire and Smoke Seals - Fire and Smoke Seals are combined seals which prevent the passage of both fire and smoke in the case of an emergency. They do this by using the same intumescent foam that a fire seal has, but with an additional low friction brush strip which serves to prevent the passage of smoke.
- Fire Seals - Fire seals have the same purpose and fire & smoke and intumescent seals, but they don’t feature the same brushing the combined fire & smoke seals do. They are designed to be used in fire door assemblies and are vital at preventing fires spreading through a building.
- Glazing Seals - Many of our glazing seals are 30-60 minute fire rated which means that they can withstand flames and heat for up to 30 or 60 minutes depending on which seal you choose. Our choice of glazing seals can be used in timber fire doors or glazed screens providing exceptional protection. In addition to great protection they also come in a choice of colours to match and blend into the glazing bead or fire door finish.
- Fire Grilles - At Noberne Seals we offer a comprehensive range of fire rated fire grilles that are ideal for use in public buildings or business premises. When protecting a building against fire and the reducing the spread of fire a building not only needs to contain fire resistant walls and floors, but also be well ventilated. Natural ventilation systems can often fail during a fire; therefore it is necessary to install a fire grille ensure full protection.
- Intumescent Pipe Collars & Wraps - Intumescent Pipe Collars & Wraps are designed to help reinstate the fire resistance of a wall or floor, which has been penetrated to allow services such as gas, water, plastic flammable pipes and flammable gases. Our Pyroplex fire pipe collars can be fitted to or set-in to a wall or ceiling construction. They are also suitable for use on concrete, masonry and plasterboard partitions.
- Intumescent Door Hardware - Noberne Seals has a large choice of fire door hardware protection, which are ideal for a quick cost effective way to protect all the necessary door hardware for a fire door. By ordering our fire door hardware protection you are helping to bring your fire doors up to fire standards.
- Intumescent Sealants - Intumescent Sealants are ideal when small areas which are generally inaccessible is required to be sealed, for example pointing around doors and windows. It is also used to seal smaller pipe penetrations, for when fire wraps are inappropriate.
- Fire Rated Letter Plates - To ensure that your building is fully fire protected it is recommended that all door hardware is fire rated, this includes fire rated letter plates and fire rated door viewers. If you have protected a door fully with fire door sets and intumescent sheets, it’s just as important to also protect the remainder of the door to ensure a fully protected door.

5 Most Common Causes of Fire in the Workplace
When it comes to the workplace, the last thing an owner wants is an accident, especially a fire related one, compromising the health of all their employees and the premises too. Prevention is the key when it comes to fire safety, and there are many factors that can be implemented to lessen the risk.
What Are the Common Causes of Fires in the Workplace?
Outlined below is 5 common causes of fire in the workplace, and some preventative measures can be put in place to stop them from happening:
Faulty electrical equipment – loose wiring, overloaded sockets and old equipment is one of the most common culprits that can cause a fire. All electrical equipment should be PAT tested regularly to make sure everything is up to standard and efficient enough to be used in the workplace.
Clutter – lack of cleaning and leaving the building untidy and cluttered can be a big mistake for a business. The build up of dust and grease, especially in poorly ventilated areas, can cause equipment to overheat resulting in a fire. Regular cleaning, spot checks and encouraging employees to keep their own workspaces tidy will mitigate the risk of a fire breaking out.
Human error – these are fire outbreaks that aren’t intentional, so it can be hard to reduce this risk. In this case it’s about making employees more aware of the fire risks of any tasks they are carrying out. Not using equipment properly and not being careful when cooking are just a couple of possibilities. All staff should be given some basic fire safety training to ensure the correct procedures are followed and any hazards are identified. Fire extinguishers should be easily located around the premises.
Arson – unfortunately, the deliberate act of starting fires is not as rare as people believe. There is no possible way to stop people from doing so, but measures can be put in place to identify any trends. CCTV and motion sensor lighting could be installed, and access to premises should be limited with only a few key holders responsible for entry. When most vandals see basic security measures put in place, they will likely think twice.
Combustible materials – it is common for a workplace to have a lot of paper and cardboard due to filing and paperwork. However, with the new digital age, some of this is being changed over to digital files which reduces the risk of them catching fire. If this isn’t an option correct storage, disposal and handling should be in place and regulated to make sure safe standards are met. Don’t forget these types of combustibles are just fuel for fires!
All businesses have a legal responsibility to ensure their premises are protected against a threat of fire and take appropriate action. Our experienced team at Noberne Seals can help with any fire protection required. We are industry leaders in the supply of passive fire protection. We supply intumescent strips, smoke seals and acoustic seals as well as a wide range of other products.

Reduce Your Bills With Our Energy Saving Seals
Many of the products offered by Noberne Seals, like our fire and smoke seals and finger guards, are aimed at helping to protect our customers from harm, but we’re no one-trick pony. Of course, safety is paramount, but we’re also big believers in helping people to save money.
With energy bills on the rise, it’s important for home and business owners to reduce costs wherever possible, and our energy saving seals are a cheap and effective way of doing just that.
How Do Energy Saving Seals Help?
By preventing draughts and helping to keep your home insulated, energy saving seals cut down on the amount of energy – and therefore money – that you waste. According to the Energy Saving Trust, effectively draught-proofing your home’s doors and windows could shave upwards of £20 off your annual energy bill, so it’s a small investment that can go a long way over time.
As well as being highly cost-effective, our seals – like our popular Torndado Seals – are very easy to install and are available in a range of colours, allowing them to blend into and complement your door and window frames. Not all doorways and openings will be able to accommodate a seal, so Draught Excluder Tape is the perfect way to cover up awkward holes and gaps and make your home as energy-efficient as possible.
Noberne Seals are a leading provider of reliable fire protection and insulative seals.
